Her like staring at her like in the garage well that's one way to start your morning new at six o'clock a local bakery worker came face to face with a black bear this morning it happened at Taste by Spellbound and Avon where the bear was after some freshly baked cupcakes or you can't blame the Bear right as News Eyewitness News reporter shows us The Uninvited Guest caused quite a scare they're pretty sure the bear came out of this wooded area in the back of taste by Spellbound you see this garage door over here it's shut now but it was wide open as they were getting ready to drive out with a delivery I shut this door and I came around like this and wanted to shut this door.
But as soon as I kind of got about here the bear Turned and came back in this direction Maureen Williams tells a chilling tale of a face-to-face encounter with that bear this morning and while she was trying to maneuver herself to safety her co-workers and the bakery owner were beginning to understand what was happening all of a sudden I hear bear bear there's a bear the bakery girls get pots and pans like start banging it we don't know if that's good or if that's bad the noise startled the bear but not before it gobbled up some 50 cupcakes along with several slices of coconut cake you know Bakery is kind of lucky that it had the cupcakes and the cake available for the bear to eat because if that wasn't around bear might have gotten into the raw materials and that could have been a financial disaster and a really big mess a scary encounter.
That Could Have Ended much worse than it did I wanted to try to save the product if I could and then when the bear kind of got a little close to me it was screaming and yelling trying to make myself big all those things that they tell you to do when you encounter a bear so I did all that but that wanted he wanted those cupcakes so the business protocol is going to be different now this garage door is going to stay shut for the majority of the day and certainly at night they'll only open it when need be because you never know when the bear might come back in fact I don't know when it might come back I'm out of here Mark Robbins Channel 3 Eyewitness News now we got in touch with State Environmental officials they tell us they have set up a trap near the bakery and they hope to capture the bear and then work with the animal to condition it not to return to that location.
